Eyealike Video Copyright Search
- Conference
- DEMO 08
- Market Segment
- Enterprise Software and Services
- Funding Details
- Eyealike has raised $1.6 million from its former parent company, Logicalis, and a select group of strategic angels. The company is raising its first institutional round, which will be used to fund sales and marketing and continued research and development.
- Competitors
- Today the Eyealike Visual Search Platform competes against point solutions in both (still) image search and video, but does not have a direct competitor focused on offering a complete platform for both images and videos.
- Product Description
- Eyealike Video Copyright Search offers a new visual-based search approach that helps media content producers ward off massive amounts of copyright infringement that results in daily losses of millions of royalty dollars. Designed to automatically train, search, identify and ultimately flag any video content served illegally across the web, Eyealike will make illegal distribution of copyrighted material “scarce” to benefit producers and offer “insurance” to websites to avoid lawsuits and ensure consumer satisfaction.
- Market Opportunity
- Our initial market opportunity lies with rich media content producers and content pushers. The Motion Picture Association estimates that more than $6 billion was lost because of copyright infringement in 2005 – this figure is non-reflective of TV, music videos etc. The copyright infringement area has a tremendous of growth potential for Eyealike.
- DEMO Says
- Copyright holders have already demonstrated their willingness to take on content sharing sites that, willingly or otherwise, act as trading platforms for creative IP. Eyealike offers protection for those sites, providing in smart search algorithms what editors and users readily can’t offer: a highly-accurate, vigilant eye for copyrighted material. There’s plenty of opportunity for the company in identifying copyright infringement, but we think the accuracy of this video fingerprinting and search technology opens this technology to a range of compelling video identification applications.

Based on the obvious and proven trends of growth in Internet advertising, it is inevitable that image, video and other non-text rich media will need software that can extract meta-data that can then be targeted with ads. Current internet advertising is dependent up meta-data in text format, in spite of the fact that much of the web isn't text, and that trend doesn't seem to be changing. There is a market here. And the big players in search and social networking who make their living on advertising are starting to spend internal dollars on software that does what Eyealike does. It is going to be an interesting progression in technology.
